Hi Coaches, Players, and Parents,
It has come to our attention that there have been coaches belittling, overpowering and/or being aggressive towards our officials. We have had a few officials quit because of this abuse. This behaviour is not acceptable nor condoned. Ringette PEI will not tolerate the abuse of our officials, causing them to feel uncomfortable or distressed.
In addition to this, we have had reports of multiple incidents within the last month of rough games. At this time, I would like to remind all coaches, players, and parents that we expect everyone to participate fairly, cleanly and with good sportsmanship when playing ringette. As playoffs are approaching, please keep this in mind as suspensions can and may occur. Play hard, play smart and play with respect.
Furthermore, it has been reported there have been coaches removing their masks on the bench at times for reasons other than taking drinks. As we all should be well-versed by now, this behaviour is not acceptable. Officials have every right to refuse to continue the game until all masks are worn. The first violation will constitute a warning from an official. The second violation will involve the coach having to leave the bench and issuing a game misconduct.
We are reminding you that you are in a position of authority and have the ability to lead by example. Respect all parties involved (officials, players, spectators, opponents) and encourage your players to do the same when playing the sport, we all love.
Thank you all for your cooperation on these matters and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
